Forest School

St Marie's Catholic Primary School and Nursery are proud to have a forest school area on the grounds of the Merttens Drive site. This area is used for different provisions to provide enriching and stimulated learning for different year groups as well as small nurture groups who can access outdoor learning. These sessions are run by specially trained forest school leaders who have the skill set and knowledge to deliver different sessions.

The can include:

  • Team building exercises
  • Weaving
  • Hammock and shelter construction
  • Campfire safety
  • Brass rubbing
  • Whittling

All children in Key Stage 2 will have the opportunity throughout the academic year to attend Forest School. Suitable outdoor clothing will need to be worn which will include wellies during the winter months.
