To celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 5th March children are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. Please could children also bring in their favourite book to share with their friends.
To further celebrate we will also have a special lunch menu on this day.

We are really looking forward to the Book Fair next week.
The Book Fair will be held on the Merttens Drive site after school from Monday 2nd March until Friday 6th March, please come along and have a look.
We will receive 10% of the proceeds to spend on lovely new books for our library.

A plea from EYFS, we are looking for some protective clothing for children to wear in the outside area whilst it is still wet and cool.
We would like any outgrown:
puddlesuits from age 3-4 to age 6-7
wellies (size 7 toddler to size 13 toddler)
Any donations are greatly appreciated by both staff and children.

Yesterday, the Year 1 children had a fantastic time celebrating Women in Science Day and learning that anyone can grow up to be an amazing scientist. They explored the work of Marie Curie, the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, and learned that she was a famous scientist who led important research into radioactivity and helped scientists understand how X-rays work. Her discoveries help doctors look inside our bodies to check our bones and keep people healthy.
The children then created their own X-ray pictures using cotton buds to form bone shapes. It was a wonderful session, full of excitement, wonder, and curiosity as the children discovered how scientists make new findings.

After half term, children will be selected to bring the Lenten bag home. Families can be involved in our Lenten journey this Lent by spending some special time together working through the activities in the bag, such as reading the Gospel and writing a prayer. It will be a lovely opportunity to support faith at home and strengthen the link between home and school during this important season.

Year 3 Polar Adventure!
Year 3 had an exciting time taking part in a live WWF lesson on the polar regions with explorer and TV presenter Steve Backshall!
The children learned all about life in the Arctic and Antarctic, discovered how animals are adapted to survive in extreme cold, and found out what it’s really like for scientists and explorers working in these icy environments. They even had the chance to hear about real polar expeditions and why these regions are so important to our planet.
A fantastic and inspiring experience that really brought our geography and science learning to life!

Year 5 have had a visit from Warwick University students and their inflatable planetarium today. We explored the universe, in the darkness of the inflatable dome, looking at everything from a super nova, nebula, black hole and our own solar system. The pupils really enjoyed the experience and asked lots of questions.

Just a few of the lovely new books which we have bought and added to the KS2 library this term. These books were all bought using funds raised from our last Book Fair, each celebrating authors and stories from other cultures.
