The Nursery Children really enjoyed showing off their flower home projects in a circle time this week. They each held their flower, discussed the things that are special to them and helped create a wonderful display. Each child worked so hard to use a variety of medias to show off their creative skills.

The children of St. Marie’s came together beautifully for a whole school Mass to celebrate the feast day of St. George. Led reverently by our Year 4 pupils, the Mass was a wonderful example of faith in action, with children confidently taking on roles in the liturgy through their readings, prayers and singing. They helped the whole school to reflect on the courage and faith shown by St. George, reminding us all of the importance of standing up for what is right and living out our values each day. It was a joyful and prayerful celebration that brought our school community together in worship.

In RE, Year 1 have been learning about the Easter story. They explored the key events, including Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday, and discussed why these moments are significant. The children also learnt about the Paschal (Easter) candle, identifying and understanding its special features, such as the cross, the year, and the Alpha and Omega symbols, and what each of these represent. We then made our own Paschal candles.

We have been very lucky to receive a donation of some lovely wellies and puddlesuits from GE Vernova Rugby as part of their sustainability initiative for Earth Month. GE Vernova have a strong focus on promoting sustainable living and believe in the importance of taking positive action to protect the planet. This amazing donation will be a big help towards our initiative in getting children involved in gardening and looking after our outdoor areas.

Yesterday in science, Year 3 explored how flowering plants reproduce.
We learned the names and jobs of the different parts of a flower, including the petals, sepals, stamen (anther and filament) and carpel (stigma, style and ovary). The children discovered that the anther produces pollen, and the stigma receives it during pollination.
To bring our learning to life, we carefully dissected real flowers to identify each part. The children were fantastic at using their scientific vocabulary and were so curious when seeing how plants are structured on the inside!

Sky Blue Friday! 💙
To celebrate Coventry City F.C.’s incredible promotion to the Premier League, Friday 24th April will be a non-uniform day!
Children are encouraged to wear something Sky Blue or their Coventry shirt to show their support and join in the celebrations.
We know how much this moment means to so many in our community.
