Today, Year 3 enjoyed taking part in the WWF World Oceans Day Live Lesson, where we had the incredible opportunity to dive beneath the waves with Steve Backshall and learn about the amazing creatures and habitats that make up our oceans.
We explored why our oceans are so important, the challenges they face, and how we can all play our part in protecting them through sustainable choices and actions. The children were fascinated by the underwater world and inspired to think about how they can help care for our planet.
To continue our learning, Mrs McCubbin kindly treated the us to some wonderful new books all about the ocean, marine life, and ways we can help protect these precious environments for future generations.
This learning links beautifully to Catholic Social Teaching, particularly our responsibility to care for God's creation. We reflected on how we are called to be stewards of the Earth, showing respect for the natural world and working together to protect it. By making sustainable choices and caring for our oceans, we can help ensure that God's wonderful creation thrives for years to come.

Drayton Manor Trip!
A little rain certainly didn’t stop us from having an amazing day at Drayton Manor Resort!
Although the weather was wet to begin with, spirits remained high and the children embraced every moment of the adventure. From exciting rides to memorable experiences with friends, everyone had a fantastic day filled with laughter, smiles, and fun.
A huge thank you to all the staff, parents, and volunteers who helped and supported the trip. Your time, care, and enthusiasm helped make the day such a success.
We returned with lots of happy memories and plenty of stories to share!

On Saturday, it was a joy to celebrate the First Holy Communion of our children from Years 3, 4 and 5. The children looked wonderful in their special outfits and approached the day with reverence, confidence and great excitement. It was truly heartwarming to see them gathered with their families, parish community and friends as they received Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time.
The celebration marked an important milestone in each child's faith journey and reflected the commitment, prayer and preparation they have shown throughout the year. It has been a real privilege to accompany the children on this journey.
We thank their families for their continued support and partnership in nurturing the children's faith. As Jesus reminds us, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry” (John 6:35). May this special day remain a treasured memory for all of our children and their families.

Receptions Teddy Bears' Picnic yesterday was a fantastic success! The children had a wonderful time taking part in a range of exciting activities and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the children from English Martyrs. It was lovely to see new friendships being formed and so much enthusiasm throughout the event.

To celebrate the excitement of the World Cup, we will be holding a non-uniform day on Thursday 11th June!
Each year group has been assigned two countries to support - please see the poster below. They will spend time learning about their cultures, traditions, and sporting achievements. Children are invited to come dressed in their assigned team's colours on Thursday 11th June and join in the fun as we cheer on the countries together.
To add to the celebrations, we would be very grateful for any hamper donations in your class team's colours. These will help us create some fantastic, themed hampers for our Summer Fayre.
We look forward to a colourful, fun-filled day of football, learning, and team spirit!

That’s a wrap at Alton Castle 2026! 🎉
You should be incredibly proud of all that the children have achieved over the last few days. They have shown outstanding sportsmanship, kindness, and resilience throughout their time here 💪
Not only have they embraced every aspect of the great British weather ☔️🌤️, but they have also tackled many challenges—some personal—with grit, determination, and a positive attitude.
The children have enjoyed every moment, filling many spaces with laughter and smiles 😊. The staff supporting the residential have thoroughly enjoyed helping the children create magical memories and sharing these experiences with them ✨
We are now on our way home, and the staff are praying for a peaceful journey! 🚍🙏

It's been a busy morning here at Alton Castle! Bags are packed, bedrooms are cleaned, breakfast has been eaten, and prayer time is complete.
We are now heading off for our final activities of the visit: trekking, survival skills, low ropes, and perhaps the biggest challenge of all – staying awake!
We're really looking forward to a wet and windy final morning before we begin our journey home.

We had another fabulous, action-packed day here yesterday at Alton Castle, full of fun, laughter, challenge and reflection.
Every single child has shown excellent determination, respect and teamwork throughout the activities. We are incredibly proud of how they have embraced every opportunity and supported one another. The children continue to be a credit to the school through their enthusiasm, manners and positive attitudes.
Yesterday evening, we had the pleasure of celebrating a very special 10th birthday, making our time together even more memorable!
We then partied our socks off at the disco before coming together for Mass, where we reflected on our time here so far and all that we have achieved together.
The final whispers and giggles began to fade in the bedroom corridors last night as everyone settled down, ready for one last exciting and memorable day today.

We have had a glorious morning in the Alton sunshine. Some of us have been on a 7km bike ride, we have been on the low ropes and one group have been on a 5 mile hike around the picturesque countryside. We were very hungry by the time we came back together for lunch and devoured some pizza before a quick switch to our afternoon activities.

We all woke up feeling refreshed after a lovely night's sleep 😴✨ and are raring to go for another exciting day! 🎉🙌
Today is packed with activities, including 🚴♂️ biking, 🏹 archery, 🌿 survival skills, and 🥾 hiking. The weather is dry ☀️🙏, which we're very grateful for, and everyone is in great spirits 😊😄 and ready to get started.
The children have been fantastic so far ⭐👏, showing great enthusiasm, resilience, and teamwork 💪🤝. We’re looking forward to making lots more memories 📸💖 throughout the day and will keep you updated on all the adventures! 🌟🏕️
