Sports Day Reminder!
We are really looking forward to Sports Day next week on Wednesday 25th June. This will be held on the KS2 - Merttens Drive Site. The KS2 races will take place at 9.15am followed by our whole school picnic (Reception - Year 6) at 12 o'clock. Our KS1 races will then be at 1pm.

On Wednesday, a group of our Year 4 children took part in the MAC football tournament, held at the training ground of Solihull Moors Football Club. Seventeen schools from across our Academy participated in this exciting event.
Our team played brilliantly throughout the group stage, finishing top of their group and advancing to the quarter-finals. There, they faced a tough match against St. Augustine’s Kenilworth and, despite their best efforts, were narrowly defeated.
The children's teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship were outstanding. Mr Holmes is incredibly proud to be their coach and to have them representing St. Marie’s on the football field.

This week in RE, the Year 1 children have been exploring the theme of forgiveness. They reflected on what it means to forgive, recalled moments when they have forgiven others, and considered times when they have asked for forgiveness themselves. As part of their learning, they also enjoyed learning new songs—one about the importance of community and another celebrating God’s forgiveness. They had lots of fun coming up with creative actions to go along with each song.

On Saturday, our wonderful Year 3 children took a very special step in their faith by receiving their First Holy Communion. It was a beautiful and peaceful celebration, full of love and joy. The children showed great respect and happiness as they welcomed Jesus into their hearts for the very first time. Everyone there felt so proud and thankful for this holy moment. It was a day full of blessings and bright smiles!

What a fantastic day our Year 2 children had exploring the beautiful Leicester Botanical Gardens! 🌺🌳From the moment we arrived, the children were curious, creative, and full of excitement.
🌱 They got hands-on planting their own seeds to take home and care for.
🌴 Explored the incredible Tropical and Desert Houses, spotting exotic plants and learning about their habitats.
🎨 Sketched cacti with great attention to detail – some future botanists and artists in the making!
🪵 Created beautiful sculptures using natural materials found around the gardens.
🌿 Used their sense of smell to match herbs and essential oils to the correct plants – their noses were put to the test and they did brilliantly!
The children were so engaged and respectful of the gardens – we’re incredibly proud of them. A big thank you to the staff at the Botanical Gardens and to all the adults who helped make the day so memorable! 🌞💚

Year 5's residential trip to Alton Castle was a huge success. It was action packed with children engaging in biking, trekking, survival, low ropes, climbing and much more. The children have really grown in confidence and embraced the theme of ‘hope’ linked to the Jubilee Year. We were extremely proud of the remarkable behaviour and respectfulness that was shown throughout the trip, particularly during Mass and times of worship. Well done Year 5!

A truly special and proud moment for our school community as some of our Yera 6 pupils received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Marie's Church this year. It was a beautiful and reverent service, made even more memorable by being confirmed by Archbishop Bernard Longley.
